Tatting Again, Motif #12

I am finally getting back into tatting. A few weeks ago I sliced my index finger while cutting celery and had to go to the emergency room and get 7 stitches. OOUCH, it sure did hurt. I got my stitches out and my finger is feeling better now, so I am finally able to tat again.

But while I was not tatting, William, my Leprechaun, (see post below for William's story) finished tatting the motif he started one day while I wasn't looking. To my delight, he tatted a flower pin. I use to make these when I learned to tat 19 years ago. The back of the pin has a tie-tack fastener. These pins are quick to make, they are just basically two rosettes put together with a porcelain flower in the center.

My husband was out of town at the end of May, he was in Guthrie, Oklahoma, on business and he had some free time and wondered into an antique shop to see if he could find me a birthday present and he found a little antique sterling silver shuttle for me. I was so surprised when he gave it to me. It is about 2-1/2" long and has the initials A.M. engraved on the top and the bottom of the shuttle is stamped with C.B.&H. Sterling. If anyone knows the company, C.B.&H. or anything about the shuttle, please let me know.

Hi Carol. William does lovely work! It was so nice of him to take over the tatting while you were on the injured roster. I had 4 stitches in a finger from a similar kitchen accident a couple years ago - not fun.

I look forward to hearing what people know about your antique shuttle. Great find!

NO wonder the long silence. Blogspot is really killing me since I'm missing some journals and I have to refresh each blog to read. How nice of your husband to purchase the shuttles. Welcome back!

Hi Carol - What a well trained hubby! LOL

I found this for you:

"C B & H" is Codding Bros & Heilborn of N. Attleboro which was in business from 1862 until May, 1918. They manufactured sterling silver novelties such as belt buckles.

Hope this helps

Well, it's so nice to have you back! You've been missed. That little sterling silver shuttle is so sweet, how considerate of your husband to get it for you for your birthday. Happy Belated birthday. I like making rosettes, too, they'e fun fast and easy.

I am very glad that your stitches are out and you are better. How fortunate you are to have dear William to take up the slack while you couldn't tat! He did a great job. The shuttle is lovely. What a wonderful birthday present. Happy Birthday!

Yesss! I can comment now. :-D Oh, how I wish I had a Leprechaun like him to take care of my tatting when I'm out. What a pretty pin! And that tatting shuttle is cool, in very good conditions. I see William has a shuttle of his own, his size too. :-)

Take care (take care of that finger!), see you!

Thank you everyone for visiting and all your nice comments. I'm just happy to be tatting again. I tried to tat when I had the stitches in, but my finger was just too sore.

Verito.... Yea, it worked glad you can post now.

Tattycat & TattingChic, thank you for the birthday wishes.

Sue, I really appreciated the information on the C.B.&H. Company. That would mean my shuttle could be anywhere from 90 - 146 years old, Wow, that's so cool! Makes me wonder about the person who had my shuttle and what was her name. A.M. Maybe her name was Anna.

Zarina, nice to see you here, it has been awile since I heard from you. I hope you get the blogger problem solved.

Jane, Yes, DH has spoiled me with this shuttle and lets me induldge with my tatting supplies too! He knows how much tatting means to me. I'll be sitting at the computer looking at blogs or returned tatting e-mails and he'll ask what are you doing, and my answer is always the same, looking at tatting, do I ever do anything else on here, he laughs.

LOL Happy birthday! And there's something for you on my blog, but don't feel in a compromise, you don't have to accept it if you don't want, seriously.
