Tatting Tea Tuesday

Does Ice Tea count? Because that is what I had. I made a pitcher of regular flavored tea, but I always add one flavored tea bag, and this time it was apple flavored tea. This way my tea always taste slightly different.

Now onto the tatting part of this post. My Mom and Niece were visiting this past week and I got to do some tatting with my Mom and good friend, Rayanna. It's always fun when we can get together and tat. I made a motif for my niece, she just had her 12 year molars out, so I wanted to tat something for her. Sarah picked out the colors, Navy, Variegated Pink and White. The pattern is Jane Eborall's Lotus Flower. I love how this motif looks.

We also went to the zoo when they were here visiting and I got some really good pictures of the animals, especially one of a shark in a new tank. The polar bears are in a tank like this also. The tank has two enormous underwater viewing tunnels offering unparalleled views of the animals. If you are in the tunnel and look up, the shark or polar bear can swim right above you. It is sooo neat. I got a picture of the shark as it was swimming above me and you can see the sky above the shark, so it looks like the shark is swimming in the sky.

Here is another picture of the new tanks. Katrina sitting in front of the shark and Cameron is watching the polar bear swim by.

This is my niece Sarah standing by the tank with the Sea Lions.

Some other pictures that I liked, the Zebra and an Orchid.

Here is the newest baby elephant at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Isn't he cute!!!

It was a fun day at the Zoo.

I drink iced tea year round. When I make a pitcher, I often add 1 or 2 bags of a flavored tea, usually spearmint or chai. Just a nice refreshing zing of difference.

Looks like you had fun!

Wow, what a great Tatting Tea Tuesday post! Yes, by all means, iced tea counts.

Your Lotus Flower motif is stunning with all those beads! Gotta try it (though without the beads, as I don't have any, nor any idea how to add them).

I love the Pittsburgh zoo and haven't been to see the animals there in AGES. So thanks for sharing the fun photos. Glad you had such an enjoyable day.

That's a knock-out beaded tatted flower!!! A pin or brooch, is it? I like how those colors and beads just jump out and sing! What a pretty pattern.

Great zoo photos, too! Must be quite a large zoo to have room for a shark. I hope the glass in the tank is very, very strong, LOL.

Hi Carol,

I loved your post today.
First let me say how lovely your new blog header is. Your tatting work is beautiful and love the piece you made for your niece.
Also loved seeing your zoo photos.
It can be a bit scary when the sharks and dangerous creatures are swimming so close by.
I also love the baby elephant. Aweee

Hugs
Carolyn

Hi Carol -

Cool pics from the Zoo! Haven't been there in ages! At first I thought the shark was flying! Great shot! And the baby elephant is so adorable.

The kids had to be amazed at how close they can get to sharks, seals and polar bears!

Oh yes - can't forget the beautiful motif. Very pretty - nice colors, and the beads look great!

Your Mom, Evelyn and I had a nice time at Vicary House.

I love that motif. I better look it up and give it a try. Thanks for sharing the zoo pictures. Those tanks are marvelous, but my favorite is the baby elephant! He is precious. I call tell the kids had a good time.

This lotus flower reminds me of a lotus pattern I wrote that I have floating around somewhere.... I think I'll have to go dig it out and find something to do with it. :)

Hi Gina, I'll have to try the chai tea in my ice tea next time. Sounds yummy!

Hi Isdihara, You must try adding beads to your tatting. It creates such a differenet look to a piece. I love trying different color beads with threads. Glad you liked the pictures of the Pittsburgh zoo. If you want to see more pictures from the zoo, there is a link under my profile picture to "My Family Blog". I uploaded a lot of pictures from that day.

Hi Yarnplayer, I agree, Jane's Lotus Flower pattern is awesome. I made this into a necklace for my niece by adding a ribbon/cord to it. She loved it.

Hi TattingChic, You are too kind! But thank you, it means a lot when people leave such nice comments.

Hi Carolyn, Thanks for coming by and saying such sweet things. It took me awhile to figure out how to change my header. I kept seeing such nice headers on everyone's blogs. I finally figured out how to add text to a picture and put it on my blog. BTW, the elephant is my favorite animal at the zoo!!

Hi Kathy, Nice to hear from you! If you want to see more zoo pictures, check out my family blog, the link is under my picture on my blog. Thank you for the nice compliments on the Lotus Flower too!

Hi Tattycat, Glad you stopped by. It was a fun day at the zoo. I had not gone to the zoo in ages and we all wanted to see the new tunnel tank with the sharks and polar bears, it was awesome.

Hi Carol! I'm loving your blog header and that beaded lotus flower is fantastic! The pattern has been on my 'to-do' list for a while now, but it intimidates me. I don't know if I could do it justice after seeing yours.

The trip to the zoo looks like loads of fun. I looooooove sharks. They're fascinating. Our local zoo has a polar bear tank like that, but they need to build one for the sharks. I just want to give that baby elephant a big hug. Adorable!

Hi Steph, Thank you for your lovely comments on my header and the on the Lotus Flower. You really should give it a try, it is well worth the effort.

I hope your zoo puts in one of the tunnel tanks for the sharks. It is so neat to watch the sharks in this tank.
