Memorial Day Pin & Peacock Colored Pin

Memorial Day was a great day. First there was the Memorial Day Parade in Vandergrift, PA. My daughter, Katrina, is in the Marching Band, and they marched at the parade. We had great weather for the parade.

Then we spent the day doing odds and ends outdoors, planting in the garden, took a long walk in our woods on the trails and cooked out!

Then in the evening I had time to tat. I saw that Kathy at
"Kathy's Victorian Tatted Lace" tatted a red, white and blue motif. Which of course really fit the day and inspired me to tat something red, white and blue. So I found a pattern that I have wanted to tat for many years, and never have. It's a pretty little heart by Billy Heisler "Heisler's Creative Stitchery" the heart pattern can be found here. This was quick and easy to tat.

I have a jean jacket that has embroidered Peacock Feathers on the sleeve and back. I love the colors used in the feathers. Teal, Dark Lavendar, a Bright Green, the colors in the feathers are so vivid. I wanted to tat a pin in these colors to wear on my jean jacket. I thought how nice the pin would look with the embroidered feathers. Luckily I just ordered some Lizbeth thread and they were the perfect color for this project. I used Jane Eborall's Lotus Flower pattern. I love how the pin looks with my jean jacket.

All I have to do now is glue the tie tack pin to the back of the pin and I'm all set.
Now to go plan my next project. It will be another mixed media project with some tatting and a drawing.

The pin looks fabulous beside the jacket. You'll get lots of compliments!

Love the colours of the brooch and the jacket. You can't beat denim.
Can't believe Katrina's old enough to be in a marching band. It's only five minutes since she was a wee gal.

Oooh, I love that lotus flower and I want that jacket, too! The heart is so cute. It's funny you should post that because I was thinking to do the same one. I love split rings! Instead I did a different patriotic heart. Not as cute as yours though. :)

Hi Victats, Thank you! I appreciate your compliment.

Hi Jane, I'm so glad you like how I made your brooch. You'll really be shocked to learn Katrina will be a senior next year and that we are already looking at colleges. Yikes! I'm not ready for this!

Hi Steph, Thanks for stopping by. Oohhh, I love my jean jacket too. My Mom got it for me as a gift a couple of years ago and I just love it.

Hi TattingChic, Thank you for your kind words. I do appreciate them very much!

Hi Diane, Aren't those Lizbeth colors just so vibrant! I need to get some more.

I tatted that heart for an exchange once and was so pleased with it that I wanted to make one for myself too, but haven't yet. I guess there's still time before 4th of July! The lotus flower is really nice too!

Hi tattrldy, thanks for stopping by. I agree, peacock colors are awesome and when I bought the Lizbeth threads I wasn't thinking peacock, but it sure worked out great.

Hi Vanessa, Nice of you to stop by. I appreciate your compliment. I love visiting your art blog too!

Hi Carolyn, I've only seen this heart done in red, white and blue, but I bet it would look great in peacock colors too. I might have to try it.
Happy Birthday to your daughter. Will you get to spend time with her?

Hi Mom Hi Greg, You found me. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I would have loved to visit the museum with the Terra Cotta Warriors. That would be so interesting.

HI Gina, You do still have time to make the heart for 4th of July. I will wear it on my shirt that day.

Hey Bella, thanks for the compliments. I just love these colors, I will use them again in a future project too.

Hi Pamela, I will take a picture of the whole jacket with the pin on too and post it to my blog. I love this jacket. When my Mom got it for me, she offered it to me and gave me a choice of two jean jackets. The other one was nice too with embroidered circles and a design, but I fell in love with the peacock feathers. Do I hear a new HDT color coming on.......
