Happy Valentine's Day

This is the heart I choose to tat for Valentine's Day. The colors are not your usual reds and pinks. I was reading the January/February issue of Family Circle Magazine and saw an article "A Valentine's Day Card-Making Party. It showed some really nice home-made Valentine Cards. It looked like paper you would use when scrapbooking. I really liked the colors they were using to make these Valentine Cards. They used paper in chocolate brown, cream, pink and cranberry. The colors just look lovely together. That is what inspired me to make this heart. The pattern is by Pam Palmer in her Tatting Treats book. I need to find a frame for this heart. I have a deeper color, like a cranberry with swirls on it to use as a mat around the pink paper. I'll take another picture when it is framed. Here is a picture from the Family Circle that inspired me.
Tatting and Scrapbooking

I haven't posted in sometime, I wasn't tatting much either. My wrist has been hurting lately. So I just started tatting again and I made this cute penguin. The pattern is by Pam Palmer. I wasn't sure how to frame it, but had an idea. I was invited to a friends house to scrapbook, Creative Memories, and I found some pretty paper that would look perfect with the penguin. So I layed it all out and used this really nice oval cutter and on the light blue paper. I'm really pleased at how this turned out. I want to get a medium blue colored 5 x 7 frame and it will be done. I didn't glue the penguin down, but used a photo split (double sided tape) to hold the penguin in place. It worked well and I'm very happy with the finished piece.

More Lace & Glass

This is a glass frame with a clasp so you can open it and put the lace inside. This snowflake was tatted by one of my tatting friends, Estefania from Chili. It is so lovely! I have another frame like this one, it is an oval shape. My Mom found these frames for me in Houston, Texas at a show called the NutCracker Market. The frame size is 3" x 4"I tatted more on my Valentine Heart tonight. It is coming along nicely. I really like how the colors are going to look together.

Lace & Glass

I thought I'd post a picture of something I got for Christmas. My Mom had a lady put a piece of my tatting between glass. It is so pretty and will last forever. This one can be worn as a pendant or used as a tree ornament. It is 2-1/4" in size. I haven't tatted in a week, I've been busy reading Jude Deveraux book, First Impressions. I thought it was pretty good. I didn't like her last few books. I've been thinking about what I will tat next and have been going through all my books looking for just the right heart to make. I saw a picture in magazine of homade valentine cards using colored paper, like you would use in scrap booking. I really liked the colors they were combining on the hearts on the cards. So I finally found a heart to make, it is by Pam Palmer. Now to go pull out the thread to use and I'll get started. I'm really excited to tat this heart, because I would not have thought about combining these colors. I'll post a picture when I am done.
Tatting Harry Potter & Hedwig

Everyone at my house is anxiously awaiting the new Harry Potter Movie. I was thinking of how I could tat something to represent Harry Potter and this is what I came up with. I used Jane Eborall's Bridegroom pattern for Harry and her small owl pattern for Hedwig. You can find these patterns here: http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/

The
wizard hat pattern can be found on
Gillian Buchanan's BellaOnline's Tatting Site: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art13836.asp
I also tatted a bookmark, it is Harry's scarf in Gryffindor colors and Harry's Firebolt broomstick for his Quidditch games.
Until next time....Bye

Tatting Snowflakes and Dragonflies

I've been busy tatting snowflakes for Christmas. I wanted to post a picture of the snowflake I like to tat. The pattern can be found on Jane Eborall's site. She has some of the prettiest snowflake patterns. A long time ago, I did a lot of counted cross stitch and stitched this Santa and made placememats. I haven't cross stitched since I learned to tat.

I also tatted a few dragonflies. These have been on my "To Tat List" for sometime now. These little dragonflies are so darn cute!!!! The pattern can be found at DS9 Design, Debbie Arnold's Site .

MY TATTING PAGE ON YAHOO

I thought I'd create a blog to post my tatting. I thought it would be easier to maintain than my website: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/8622/tatting.html
Next post I'll try to add a picture of my tatting.
